Goncourt Prize Selection Côte d’Ivoire

The Choix Goncourt, launched in 1998 by the Académie Goncourt, brings together students from around the world to promote the reading of major contemporary literary works and encourage the creation of an intercultural dialogue space around Francophone literature.

The first edition of the Choix Goncourt de Côte d’Ivoire was organized in 2024, initiated by Dr. Séverin N’Gatta, lecturer-researcher at the Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan. The jury is composed of young modern literature students from the country’s three largest universities, who will award their prize to the author of their choice.

The Théâtre des Arts Vivants and its partner, the Ivorian association Point de Lecture, were commissioned by the French Embassy and the Institut Français of Côte d’Ivoire to supervise and coordinate an ambitious program of events. This includes literary cafés, meetings with authors, and multidisciplinary artistic performances inspired by the selected texts.
